Music where innocence and unease quietly coexist

MEAN ANGEL is the debut album by Goodbye Castle — a project emerging from the cinematic universe of the film MEAN ANGEL.
Blending art-pop, neoclassical piano, and immersive sound design, the album unfolds as a scary-cute (kowa-kawaii) world where fragile beauty and quiet unease coexist.

This international collaboration brings together artists from France, Poland, and Japan. At its core is the classically trained pianist and vocalist Magdalena Constance Zuk, whose globally recognised work bridges classical precision and contemporary expression. Her performances are woven together with the nuanced musicianship of multi-instrumentalist Shinichiro Sudo, and the striking voices of Erika Matsushita and the TORANOKO girl performers.

Guided by lyrics and artistic direction from Yuria Matsushita, and enriched by the cinematic sound design of Yuya Shito, MEAN ANGEL moves fluidly between album, film, and soundscape — offering an emotionally detailed listening experience that resonates beyond genre and format.

Mystical adventure through beautiful and serene forest and a temple in rural Ehime.

It represents the daily life of Japanese temples and monks, and the beauty of nature.

Contemporary classical music by Magdalena Constance Zuk adds mysterious and  spiritual colour.

It is said that girls are as tender and

lovely as the ocean.

Yet on the contrary, they can be lonely and cruel.

Nevertheless, one cannot stop loving them.

I hope you won’t be tricked by a fairy tale…

FOUND YOU - Single

From the short film "MEAN ANGEL"

Inspired by Osamu Dazai

Into a "Kowa -Kawaii” (scary-cute) cinematic world — a mysterious, dreamlike debut single woven with fantasy.

‘FOUND YOU’ is not a conventional musical work. With its contemporary, melodic piano and vocals, it is an immersive experience, as if you are in a fantastic story-world.

This its the story of a girl perfectly preserved somewhere along the road to adolescence.

Magdalena Constance Zuk made her international debut in 1999 in Paris, where she performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto in B Flat Major, KV 595 at the Grande Amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne. This was followed by Szymanowski’s Symphony Concertante at the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall in London under Maestro Kees Bakels. Since then Magdalena has performed by invitation at many special events including a Chopin recital at the French premiere of Roman Polanski’s film, The Pianist, recitals with the chamber orchestra at St Martin in the Fields in London, Benjamin Britten’s Young Apollo and Gerald Finzi’s Eclogue.   In 2011 Magdalena was awarded the prestigious TV Polonia Award for her outstanding promotion and representation of Polish culture on the international stage. She has over the last years toured extensively across Europe, South America and Japan. Among Magdalena’s great joys are her regular performances at the annual “Chopin Village Festival” on Shikoku Island in Japan, where she is an honoured performer.
